Vacuum pumps can help you run up to a full tenth quicker. They make lots of power increases because they allow the top ring to stay sealed longer in the rev range.

Many racers think it is because of other reasons, but, truth is, all pistons and rings will lose their seal at some rpm. This is when the pressure below the ring is greater than the pressure above the ring. When you rev the engine so high that the piston stops at TDC, the ring tries to keep going, losing contact with the bottom of the top ring groove.

So, the vac pump can pull negative pressure on the entire area under the rings. On a Suzuki GS 1150-style engine, this is a ton of area. It includes the tranny area and all space under the cylinder.

What we have found over the years is that the oil system loses PSI at the same rate as the vacuum increases. Vacuum is measured in inches of pressure and the oil system is measured in pounds per square inch. So, the vacuum pump will reduce the oil PSI a little.

But, if you turn on the pump before start up, it can and will stop ALL oil PSI!!! So, we fire engine first, then turn on the pump. If you are racing, it will be up to full vacuum by the time you stage and you will have oil PSI.

The biggest danger when using the vac pump is starting the engine after an oil and filter change, because the entire oil PSI system is empty of oil and full of air. If you turn on your vacuum pump before the oil PSI is primed back to normal, you will run the engine dry of lube and you will lose the crankshaft.

If your vacuum pump pumps oil out into your overflow tank (puke tank), you have a bad leak in the system. This could be anything from a minor clutch cover gasket leak to a hole in a piston.

We run new and sealed gaskets and turn seals around backwards to maximize our vacuum advantages. The more vacuum we pull on the crankcase, the higher we can rev the engine before ring seal loss.

Please be mindful of this information and write me for answers to questions.

Have fun and go quick!

My thoughts…only mine…not speaking for anyone but myself.

VHR did a great job playing the game to win the Championship and make it look close.
Good for the sport. Good for TV. Good for the drama needed to keep us interested.

VHR did a great job on LE’s engine.
VHR had Drew’s bike and Eddie’s bike ready to win and “block” anything that would come up.

I believe that Drew was going to set the record and gain the 20 points from it and put LE out of contention.

Only a few things could have messed them up……the ODDS were in their favor.
What went wrong was:
Andrew red lighted 1st round. OMG!!!!!!!!!!
Now it was up to LE to just do what he does best….win rounds.
LE won more rounds in the chase than anyone…he is MY hero.

And, Hector “came around” and showed what a TWO valved, 12 inch long “pole vaulting”
PUSHROD engine could run…and Hector was running ALL OUT.

I would bet that if Hector and his engine guys had what Eddie and Andrew had that Hector would show us how fast his Vtwin could go if he had DOUBLE OVER HEAD CAMS and NO PUSHRODS.
With FOUR VALVES PER CYLINDER….please dont tell me you think that given a choice that you would run 2 instead?

Does anyone on this forum think that Hector is smarter or better than Byron and VHR at engine design and tuning? Give Hector the same engine combination that Eddie has and let Hector run it ALL OUT…and he will show you what is “left” in that package.

GREAT job LE, GARY and GT for showing us what everyman can do with hard work and years of training and practice….AND giving credit where credit is due…to VHR for giving him the best engine they could………AWESOME…..

Of course all of this is respectfully in my humble opinion. GB3

Live life fully while you’re here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You’re going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don’t try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.

The Big Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seems almost too much to handle, When 24 hours in a day is not enough; remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and start to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured it into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous ‘yes.’

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. ‘Now,’ said the professor, as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things – God, family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions…… Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the things that matter… like your job, house, and car. The sand is everything else — The small stuff. ‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, You will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So… Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the dripping tap.
.
‘Take care of the golf balls first — The things that really matter. Set your priorities.
The rest is just sand.

‘One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. ‘I’m glad you asked’. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.’

Positive Thinking vs. Negative Thinking:

Many of us have been known to swear, scream, or throw something from time to time. Why are we likely to display these actions? There is a three-step process to negative thinking or actions.

First, we hear, see or get negative statements. This information enters our minds. We may not think too much of it at first, but, then we notice ourselves saying, repeating and visualizing what we just heard.

This is step two. Don’t believe me? Try making a negative statement around a kid. Do you think they will repeat it? I am sure there are many things you do not want your children hear. Why? Are you afraid they may be influenced? Why don’t you allow your children to watch certain television programs or listen to certain music? Could it be that you don’t want your kids to become what they are hearing and viewing? I think so.

The same applies to you. You will start thinking and making statements based on your experiences.

Third, we act out what we hear and say. If you tell yourself that, you are “forgetful” or “stupid” etc. then it is a matter of time before you start acting out what you have been thinking and stating.

Why do I bring this up? I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with a Champion motorcycle racer. He stated that he races during the season and teaches racing and Mind control during the off-season. Their major focus is positive thinking. He went on to say that, he became a champion racer by following a systematic process thinking and behaving. Positive statements and visions only.

We went out for breakfast and the sever asked us for our order. “Oh my goodness, I better get a pen and pad otherwise I will forget everything!” He quickly stated, “do you see? She will forget because she told herself she would forget. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.”

You can become a better life partner, friend, worker and over all person by changing the way you think. You will look at the process of life, love, school, training, goal setting and business in a different way. In fact, you should become more conscious about what you think about as often as you can…we see all words in pictures…make sure the one you see is the one you want!!

Well, we have made some great gains in the last few weeks.

We started learning how to tune and run the Slider Clutch at about the same time Anne is getting used to the G force of our 500

horsepower monster.

The team did not run as well as we wanted to at the ADRL race in Virginia. We qualified in the quickest field in history.

Anne had to run Kim 1st round and it was kinda cool as it was the 1st time in history that two girls met each other in PXM competition.

BUT, we got outrun.

We ran much better at the next race back in Georgia.

That is where we won our 1st round ever at the SEMDRA race at SGMP.

We were to run Travis Davis 2nd round but Anne broke a chain at the line.

Star Racing team traveled to the AMA Dragbike race in Montgomery AL to compete in the new Pro Comp class.

We qualified 8th…won 1st round, had low ET 2nd round and won it too.

Anne won the semis with an earned by run…but the crank broke and we could not get the engine swap turned around quick enough

to race against Travis Davis in the final!!!! DARN…we did match his performance round by round..but we ended up runner up.

It was still a great weekend for us and our 1st “Podium” finish with our Pro Mod / Pro Comp / PXM Team.

Thanks to everyone that made it possible to go this quick this soon.

The ADRL Hardees Georgia Drags VI event at South Georgia Motorsports Park had “standing room only” crowds despite the severe thunderstorms and poor weather forecast. The inclement weather negated the fourth and final qualifying run and left the team the number 21 qualifier out of the 36 teams entered.

“On our first qualifying run on Friday, we did not run the best we could, and we had to wait until the mid-afternoon run to get in the show,” said team owner, George Bryce. The Lowe Toyota Team qualified 12th on the hot mid-afternoon session with a decent run of 168.18 MPH in 4.35 seconds. “We had an electrical gremlin stop us from improving on the Friday night run,” said 25-year crew chief, Ken Johnson. “We stayed up till 2:00 a.m. to find and fix the problem. We did find the switch that caused the misfire and repaired it.” The team did not get to showcase the team’s power and Anne’s racing skill as the fourth session on Saturday morning was rained out. The ADRL made the decision to go straight into eliminations at the first break from rain.

The great news is Star Racing’s bright red 18-wheeler was parked on the midway to showcase the Lowe Toyota’s team colors, logos, the beautiful new black Tundra, and the candy apple red Pro Extreme Motorcycle that was emblazoned with the familiar “Lowe Toyota” logos. “We were parked and pitted in a prime location to show our new sponsor, our brand-new Toyota Tundra, and our crowd-stopping display.

In addition to many people taking pictures of the Pro Extreme motorcycle with the Lowe Toyota logo, we also had them taking pictures of the Tundra. I was so excited to be able to share with my peers and fans the Lowe Toyota connection. I even had the opportunity to have some taped TV interviews,” said an excited Hansen. Speaking of crowd stopping, South Georgia Motorsports Park had the largest attendance for a two-day event in the track’s history. “Over 40,000 fans came by our Lowe Toyota display and met Anne, took pictures of her, got autographs, and took photos of the black beauty of a Tundra,” said Bryce.

“This race was a great way to meet and speak with many Toyota owners and introduce Toyota to consumers who hadn’t previously thought of Toyota as an option when it comes time for them to purchase their next vehicle,” said Hansen. “Thank you, Lowe Toyota of Warner Robins, for supporting my dream to be able to race and run at such a huge event. I thoroughly enjoyed representing the team of dedicated professionals and my friends at Lowe Toyota in Warner Robins, Georgia!”

Staging tricks:

We know some people will do “anything” to win.

If you race long enough you will see it or have it “done” to you.

I don’t condone it or recommend it as it shifts your focus to the competitor.

Your focus should be only on your process of the best run you can make.

When you focus only on your present moment and your procedure…you have the best possible chance for success.

The “mind game” racer may have had a few good experiences with this method of racing…and may feel it is, his or her, only chance to win.

We preach and practice to concentrate on “our” run….that way, the “trickster” cannot affect us. He can, only, if you let him.

The trickster thinks he can manipulate your thoughts or focus…or he may just try to get you to change your routine to compensate for his, so called, ”mind games”.

If you change anything because you are “paired” with him you will hand over some of your concentration to him.

If you have fallen victim to this type of racing, then you may doubt my teaching or my plan to combat this way of thinking.

Believe me, the race is really between you and your ability to “block out” the unnecessary to keep your focus.

Imagine, if on every run you ever made, how good your performance would be if all you did was concentrate only on your job and the “results” would take care of themselves. GB3

We went to our 1st ADRL Pro Extreme Motorcycle race of the 2010 season this past week.

Jeff, Anne, Ken, Mitch and I all got to the the Pilot Travel Center in Baytown, Texas on Thursday afternoon. We parked the big red rig and set up our Star Racing display out front of the big store/McDonalds and let kids sit on the bike for photos and gave away lots of race tickets.

At 6:00 we loaded up and drove over to Houston Raceway Park and set up our pit area.

We had to get our credentials, set up awning, and get the technical inspection handled. We finally get finished at 11:00 that night. Whew what a long day!

We got to track early Friday morning and we made 3 runs to Qualify 11th out of 25 Pro Extreme Motorcycles. We had a carburator fall off on our 1st run…the 2nd run was good, 165 MPH in 4.31 seconds. The last run Friday night our clutch malfunctioned and pulled Anne through the starting line lights. But we got in the show.

We worked on the bike till Midnight and got it ready to make the last qualifiying run on Saturday. When we got to the track Saturday morning at 7:30 the ADRL started rushing everyone to hurry and get the last run in as there was a huge chance for rain by 11:00 AM.

We had a spark plug blow out on our last run….and several competitors improved. We were scared we may get “bumped” out. We ended up staying in the show at 15th!

Then the storms came. It rained for hours, so the race was rescheduled for July!!!!!!

So, we drove home all night in the pouring rain. Now we have time to practice and improve even more before we go back to race in Houston Texas.

The next ADRL race is April 23-24 at our home track South Georgia Motorsports Park in Adel Baby!!!!

April 9-11, we go to Commerce GA for the AMA Dragbike race to set up the big rig. We sell parts and support our customers.

Come see us anytime at the races or in Americus GA…GB3
